Foam-filled Warehouse Fire Kept in Check with Fire Sprinklers
Henrico County, VA -- Fire investigators are trying to determine what caused a fire to start in a warehouse filled with very flammable foam this morning.
"First arriving units initially reported no fire visible and started investigating the large single story warehouse. After several minutes the crews located a fire inside the warehouse," said Henrico Fire Spokesman Captain Danny Rosenbaum. "Shortly after the assignment was upgraded to a second alarm assignment with sixteen fire units assigned to the call."
Luckily, fire sprinklers inside the warehouse kept the fire in check. The foam stored in the warehouse - used for medical cushions and bedding - is extremely flammable. It could have destroyed the property without the fire sprinklers.
No one was inside the warehouse at the time, and no one was injured.
Firefighters said the sprinklers were so effective, the business should be able to resume activities shortly.
