Protecting Facilities Against Frozen Pipes

Frozen Fire Sprinkler Pipes | F.E. Moran Fire Protection

As the weather turns, the risk for frozen fire sprinkler pipes, underground mains, gravity suction tanks, or fire pumps becomes real.  One sharp turn in the weather can cause a pipe to freeze.  The frozen pipe will expand.  When the pipe thaws, a crack will be left behind, causing a leak. Worst case scenario, a fire will ignite and the fire protection will fail without adequate water pressure.  Make sure your facility is ready for the winter.

Frozen Fire Sprinkler | Testimonial | F.E. Moran Fire Protection

Frozen fire sprinklers happen most often in areas that are out of the way and not often frequented.  The freeze up could be caused from inadequate heating, cracks, loose siding, defective doors and windows, or other building defects.
