Madison, IL (KSDK) - Several metro east fire agencies were called early Friday to battle a vacant structure fire Madison, Illinois.

A frozen fire hydrant hampered the initial efforts to control the blaze inside the house in the 200 block of Terry Street near Roosevelt.

Fire officials say when they first arrived to the location, the fire was already burning a significant portion of the yard around the house, possible igniting the unoccupied single family home which was heavily damaged by fire.

Authorities say the house did have working utilities, and the Illinois State Fire Marshal will be called to investigate the cause of the fire.

No injuries were reported.
