High School team saves apartment tenants from fire | F.E. Moran Fire protection

Anchorage, Alaska -- Fire officials are thanking the Sitka High School basketball team in Anchorage, Alaska for saving an apartment full of people when a fire broke out.

A fire tore through an Anchorage apartment building that was heavily damaged.  Luckily, the basketball team was nearby and spotted the blaze, according to the team's coach Andy Lee.  The team banged on doors of the apartment building and escorted a dozen people to safety.

Firefighters arrived shortly after and extinguished the fire within 45 minutes.  

The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation.
