Chicago, IL -- An extra alarm fire brought down an entire strip mall in the Bronzeville neighborhood.

No injuries were reported, but a dollar store, pharmacy, tax prep firm, and other businesses in the strip mall were destroyed.  It took 4 hours to extinguish.

The fire began in a one story building that housed the dollar store, and it quickly spread.  The roof collapsed and blasted two firefighters with fiery smoke.

Mike Jones, 45, was among others gathered at the scene.  He lives in the area and works at the dollar store.  "I'm so upset," he said.  "There ain't gonna be no work tomorrow."

Heavy smoke drifted as far as the loop.  At 2:25am, firefighters knocked out the fire, but stayed to work on hot spots.  Traffic in the area was closed for two hours.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.  Click here to read the original story.
