Chesaning, MI -- An apartment complex with no fire sprinklers has had a fire, leaving residents hurt and homeless.
The fire ignited at 2:45am yesterday. Four of the six units in the building were badly damaged, and two people were taken to the hospital. Five people were displaced.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it is known that there was no fire sprinklers in the apartment. If there had been, there is a 92% liklihood that the fire would have been contained to its point of origin.
"It was a big fire," said Fire Chief Scott Fall. "It was a good response. All the firefighters did a wonderful job and stopped the fire where it was at as soon as they got there."
