14 Displaced in Evanston Apartment Fire, 1 Injured

Evanston firefighters were called about 2:30 p.m., to a fire coming from the roof of an apartment building located on the 1300 block of Judson Avenue, officials said.
When they arrived, firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the building's eaves and fire showing on the southest side of the roof, according to Evanston fire officials. Officials upgraded the status of the fire from offensive to defensive and conducted primary and secondary searches.
Someone also reported that a person was trapped on the third floor. Firefighters searched the third floor, but no one was found, officials said. At least one person suffered a minor injury.
Fire companies from Wilmette, Skokie, Morton Grove, Winnetka, Northfield, Niles, Glenview and Park Ridge assisted in fighting the fire.
At least 14 people were displaced and Red Cross was called in to offer assistance.
